Coming Of Age

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the distinct development in Alexa's style of late?

I will admit to being one of those people who have links to tumblrs such as 'Alexa Chung Daily' bookmarked all along the top of their screen and I possibly do refresh it around ten times a day. Recent pictures, such as the above which show her self-styled in Chanel and Marni with Gap espadrilles, demonstrate a move away from the pieces she is so synonymous with. Certain aspects of her style, such as the 1960s babydoll dresses and boyfriend blazers, have become fodder for the masses and have lost some of their lex-appeal in their crass imitation. Here we see Alexa refusing to be pigeon-holed by swapping the spaghetti-thin leg revealing denim cut-offs for a 1940s style knee-skimming navy Chanel chiffon skirt. She's teamed it with a demure, yet edgy, Marni print sweater and pretty espadrilles to create a look that implies she's conveying a look more chic and sophisticated than her Barbour jacket and plaid shirt give her credit for.

I can't wait to start trawling the charity shops for knee-length skirts. I think this is going to be the summer of increasing lengths...

  1. She does look very pretty here.
Thanks for commenting on my blog. I love your name ... it is the same as my grandmothers, and pretty rare, as far as I know.
